ATPL - Airline Transport Pilot Licence

The abbreviation ATPL means Airline Transport Pilot License and is the highest level of aircraft pilot certification. ATPL course is designated to train pilots to work in an airline company. Those certified as Airline Transport Pilots are authorized to act as pilot-in-command of an aircraft in air carrier service (airline).

Students that are assigned to the ATPL theoretical course may come to the Flying Academy and use its facilities and materials for studying anytime.

Lecturers are also available through appointment, outside of the official consultation days. These appointments are also a good way to make up classes that are missed due to absences.

Course entry requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Class 1 medical certificate
  • At least PPL (A) (Private Pilot Licence) holder
  • Sufficient level of knowledge of Mathematics and Physics
  • Acceptable English language skills - FTO oral and written test

Privileges

The privileges of the holder of an ATPL(A) are to :

  • Exercise all the privileges of the holder of a PPL (A), a CPL (A) and an IR (A)
  • Act as pilot-in-command or co-pilot in aeroplanes engaged in commercial air transportation

Consultation 19 days for 7 hours
Introductory concentration teach-in educational material handover
Continuous concentration 2 days for 8 hours (stage-checks)
Final concentration 2 days for 8 hours
Self-study range 491 hours (33 weeks for 15 hours)
Time in the classroom 160 hours
  • ATPL(A) - 650 : course is intended for PPL (A) holders
  • ATPL (A) - 450 : holders of a CPL(A) or IR may have the theoretical instruction hours reduced by 200 hours to 450 hours.
  • ATPL (A) - 300 : holders of a CPL(A)/IR may have the theoretical instruction hours reduced by 350 hours to 300 hours
