Levels of humidity are an increasing problem in modern buildings. In order to save energy, many residential buildings are now better protected against draughts, as well as better insulated. At the same time, people generally take more baths and showers, and wash clothes more often. All this adds up to greater likelihoodof moisture problems in building structures.
Similar challenges are being encountered in a wide range of commercial and industrial buildings. Here effective modern insulation requires better and more frequent ventilation in order to avoid the accumulation of moisture in the air, with the problems this creates.
Lightweight wall panels with effective waterproofmembrane
The SP panels are lightweight functional boards that are ideal for use on both walls and ceilings. These special fibre-cement boards feature a unique waterproof membrane on both sides. This makes them exceptionally resistant to both rot and mould – characteristics unattainable with traditional plasterboard solutions.
They are just as resistant as brickwork in terms of moisture and water, and can be used as a base for tiling as well as filling/plastering and painting.

Lightweight walls and ceilings in high-humidity environments
The SP boards were specially developed for use on walls and ceilings in buildings where a lightweight construction is the preferred solution, but in which the resistance to moistureand water must match that available using brickwork or concrete, and where plasterboard is unsuitable.
In private homes, this means Minerit SP functional boards are ideal for use in bathrooms, utility rooms and kitchens. In commercial and industrial buildings, the unique capabilities of these fibre-cement boards mean they can be used anywhere where walls or ceilings are exposed to moisture and humidity. This can be either as a result of manufacturing and production processes, or in conjunction with subsequent cleaning and washing.
Easy to set up
The SP functional boards have a specially treated surface that makes them ideal for use in wet rooms. They are easy to cut to size and install, with no need for special tools.
The SP boards can be installed on timber or metal frames, or glued directly onto an existing wall, provided it is flat and in a good condition. All joints are sealed with a special tape that makes the surface homogeneous and water repellent. The wall cladding this provides is a perfect substratefor tiling or other kinds of surface treatment.
