Steel piles for building construction

High load-bearing capacity and a wide range of dimensions allow you to optimise your use of steel piles in building construction. Lower vibration during piling means you can safely lay foundations close to existing buildings.

A pile foundation of steel piles and steel footing, ideal for soft and compressible soils, is quick to install. Concreting can be carried out when desired or partly omitted, depending on soil conditions. Our rock foundations are based on holes drilled into the rock, in which steel tube foundations are installed. This solution is especially fast and environmentally friendly, as it greatly reduces the amount of blasting required.

Both innovative foundation solutions help speed up construction significantly because frame installation can begin as soon as the pile footing or rock-based solution is in place.

Underpinning foundations with Ruukki’s steel piles

Underpinning projects usually mean piling is done in restricted headroom, requiring the use of short pile sections. Ruukki's advanced splicing techniques make splicing of driven RR piles and drilled RD piles fast and reliable.

With relatively little soil displacement, considering their load-bearing capacity, the installation of steel piles minimises the impact on an already damaged building. The straightness of pipe piles and the success of piling can always be checked after installation.

Steel piling is a proven and reliable method for underpinning foundations, and is the reason why many culturally significant buildings are today supported on Ruukki’s steel piles.
